Abstract

The purpose of the study is to develop a unit catalog system that can be linked with the curriculum. As for the research method, first, unit subject words were extracted through the analysis of middle school curriculum and science textbooks in all grades. Based on this, we designed a unit catalog system that has a unit book catalog by connecting books related to the unit topic of the subject, an index word catalog that organizes unit subject words into index words, and a grade and school level linked subject linked to the unit topic as a subsystem. Using the Notion program, a unit catalog system was implemented on the web using a middle school science unit 1 as a sample. To evaluate the system, experiments and surveys were conducted targeting students, and very positive results were shown in terms of satisfaction with the system and intention to use it in the future. Meanwhile, this study was limited to middle school science departments, but it was proposed to expand the application to all grades and subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to propose the ways to improve the research performance evaluation to support the establishment of a sound research culture. For the study, we analyzed the cases of domestic and foreign research performance evaluation, and a survey and an interview were conducted for faculty and research performance evaluation officials, respectively. In the study, the direction of establishing the principle of research performance evaluation, the method of categorizing the type of research performance, the method and procedure of research performance evaluation, and necessary documents were proposed. First, eight principles were suggested to be considered in evaluating research achievements to ensure the validity, reliability, and transparency of the evaluation while supplementing the limitations of quantitative evaluation. Second, the main types of research achievements were categorized into journal articles, books, and presentations at academic conferences. Third, as a research achievement evaluation method, a hybrid evaluation using quantitative and qualitative and multiple measurement indicators was proposed. Fourth, a total of 11 steps (required 7 steps) were presented as a procedure for research achievement evaluation. Fifth, publications, evaluation documents, and committee chair’s reports were proposed as major documents for research achievement evaluation. The research achievement evaluation improvement plan presented in this study should be flexibly applied in consideration of the characteristics of the academic and research fields and universities.

Abstract

Finding and selecting proper reviewers is a burden on the publisher of the journal. In order to solve this problem, the online submission system started to recommend appropriate reviewers automatically. It includes a variety of new features, from recommending authors in the references of submitted papers as reviewers to finding similar papers by searching the citation index and suggesting reviewer candidates extensively. This study investigated how the online submission system provides functions such as recommendation of reviewers. As a result of examining major online submission systems, ScholarOne and Editorial Manager were recommending reviewer candidates by commercial citation index and review history platform. On the other hand, JAMS, a domestic online submission system, did not have any advanced functions such as recommendation of candidates for reviewers. Sooner or later, in Korea, it seems that more efforts should be made to improve the function of online submission system, such as recommending suitable reviewers for papers.

Abstract

As part of open science, the government adopts a national research data sharing and utilization strategy, forms a governance system at the national level, and promotes policies for research institutes to implement. Although the policy for managing research data is carried out centering on the academic world, it is insufficient compared to developed countries, and even this is a reality in which researchers do not have enough awareness to introduce it to the field. The purpose of this study is to understand the research data management status of researchers in each academic field. Academic fields consisted of four fields including Library and Information Science, Statistics, Ecology, and Korean Musicology, and the current status of data management was identified through a survey. The current status of research data management was analyzed from the perspective of research data production, sharing and management, saving, preservation and reuse. As a result of the study, it was found that there were differences by discipline in terms of data production, data sharing and management, data preservation, and data reuse, except for data savings.

Abstract

The Public Data Portal(data.go.kr) is a gateway for searching and using public data in South Korea. In 2021, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security established individual portal maintenance plans. Individual portals refer to portals built by public institutions in Korea other than the public data portal. According to the maintenance plan, the Korea Intelligence Information Society, the operator of the public data portal, needs to establish operating and data integration plans to link the public data portal and individual portals. In this study, we investigated the current operating status and data integration methods of the public data portal in South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, and proposed that the adoption of a top-down approach is efficient when integrating data. In addition, we divided the specific procedures that should be pursued when integrating data into five stages: determination of data integration standard methods, analysis of metadata status, expansion of operating infrastructure, confirmation of data import, and launch of services.
