Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the operating conditions of lecture contents in contactless online classes for University students. First, as a result of analyzing the responses of 93 respondents, 93.3% of the respondents took real-time online lectures (47.7%) or recorded video lectures (45.6%). Second, as a result of analyzing the contents used as textbooks, it was found that e-books (materials) and paper books (materials) were used together (36.6%), or e-books or electronic materials (36.6% and 37.6% respectively) were used in both liberal arts (47.3%) and major subjects (39.8%). In addition to textbooks, both major subjects and liberal arts highly used web materials (47.6% and 40.5% respectively) and YouTube materials (33.3% and 48.0% respectively) as external materials. Third, both liberal arts and major subjects used ‘electronic files in the form of PPT or text organized and written by instructors’ (62.9% and 58.1% respectively), ‘internet materials’ (16.7% and 19% respectively) and ‘paper book or materials’ (10.4% and 12.3% respectively) to share lecture contents. For the screen displayed lecture contents, 93.5% of the respondents satisfied in major subjects, and 90.2% of the respondents satisfied in liberal arts. These results suggest developing multimedia-based lecture contents and an evaluation solution capable of real-time exam supervision, developing a task management system capable of AI-based plagiarism search, task guidance, and task evaluation, and institutionalizing a solution to copyright problems for electronicizing lecture materials so that lectures can be given in the ubiquitous environment.

Abstract

This study was conducted as a basic study to derive improvement measures for NKIS. A survey was conducted on NKIS users and the user’s perception of NKIS was analyzed to derive improvement measures for NKIS. The directions for improvement presented based on the research results are as follows. First, it is necessary to survey the demand for users by occupational group and age and to establish clear targets for NKIS main users. Second, efforts to spread policy information and services are needed. Third, it is necessary to improve and revitalize the public relations method through the introduction of new media while maintaining the direction for public relations. This study presents NKIS user inconveniences and modifications through the NKIS user survey. Through this, it will increase users’ NKIS utilization and contribute to the expansion of new users. In addition, it seems that it can be used as basic data when user perception surveys are conducted on similar information portals in the future. In future research, an in-depth investigation should be conducted to identify actual users of NKIS, and customized promotional measures should be established for users who actually utilize policy information to realize NKIS goals.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to find ways to improve the open access publication support service platform through the usability evaluation of the publishing manager interface among the AccessON journal repository interfaces, which is an open access publication support service platform. Various documents and cases related to open access publishing and usability evaluation in order to answer three research questions: collection of user experience responses of interface, extraction of issues and improvement points, and analysis and derivation of suggestions for other open access publication support service platforms. Responses to the experience of using the publishing manager interface were collected through surveys and focus group interviews. Combining this, it was possible to present the results of the usability evaluation of the AccessON journal repository interface through various numerical information. The results of the usability evaluation made it possible to propose issues and improvements to the AccessON journal repository manager interface, and finally, it was possible to derive suggestions for the open access academic publishing support service platform to be developed later.

Abstract

The National Science and Technology Standard Classification System is established and operated for the purpose of efficiently managing science and technology related information, manpower, and R&D projects. The revision cycle for the classification system is five years, and 2022 is the first year of the next revision procedures. The main purpose of the next revision is to turn the third level categories into the keywords in the current classification system. It is to solve the problems about not reflecting the latest terms, and the difficulty in linking with the relevant other classifications caused by the rigid structure of the current classification system. In this study, the method was proposed by changing the existing classification system into the term management system as to improve the quality and usability of keywords related with the current third level categories. For this method, SKOS, the international standard terminology management system, and ISO/IEC 11179 standards were offered as basic models. In addition, the related metadata standards used in overseas scientific and technological glossaries were investigated, and compared with the current National Science and Technology Standard Classification System. And then essential metadata elements from the terminology management as point of view was derived. As a result, 11 standard metadata elements that can be immediately modified and applied in the current system were recommended, and five elements that can be applied after the revision of the classification system were offered.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide background information for the improvement of e-Book service task in academic libraries through the task analysis of e-Book service librarians. The semi-structured interviews with 9 participants were analyzed using Activity Theory. The study results showed that participants have used various tools and interacted with diverse people to attain the goals of e-Book services. In addition, the division of labor and rules related to e-Book services were observable. However, there exist some problems in task performance, such as lack of budget, inconvenience of use due to unstandardized e-Book production, and disagreements of opinions. Furthermore, based on participants’ responses, the ways of improvement of e-Book services in academic libraries were suggested in the aspects of content, system, and policy.

Abstract

Recently, the preparation and submission of DMP is gradually becoming compulsory, centering on domestic government-funded research institutes. However, as DMP preparation is described in written or free text, there is a problem that research data management cannot be properly explained due to non-standardization and insufficient preparation in terms of standards, formats, and management. Therefore, in this study, a case study was conducted on a machine-readable DMP that can be automatically generated and maintained by a machine, and a method for applying maDMP was proposed. Examples of maDMP investigated included RDCS, Argos, Haplo Repository, and DMap. In addition, the use of permanent identifiers, application of controlled vocabulary, and application of semantic technologies such as ontology can be mentioned as possible ways to apply maDMP.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze communication and experiences between public libraries and to identify these factors affect user satisfaction. Customer experience management (CEM), which is currently used in various fields of management and marketing, was applied to segment and analyze user experiences. After reviewing CEM research in marketing and management to derive user experience points, set physical environment, human factors, communication, and service as independent variables, emotional pleasure as parameters, and user satisfaction as dependent variables. Based on this, questionnaire items were constructed. The survey method was conducted in two ways, online and offline (face-to-face), and statistical analysis was performed based on a total of 60 questionnaires collected. The results indicate the higher the user’s experience with the physical environment and convenience, the higher the satisfaction level, but library accessibility had no significant effect. In addition, library staff attitude and problem-solving ability had a great influence on user satisfaction, and problem-solving ability had a more important influence than kindness and emotional pleasure was found to have an mediating effect.

Abstract

Libraries are experiencing numerous modifications to multifunctional spaces in response to the declaration of WHO pandemic. Most libraries throughout the globe have reported their closures, including national libraries in every country, and most established facing services have been transformed to untact services. However, the breadth of the service varies by local autonomous entity and library, making it difficult for librarians to act according to their conviction, and also users are feeling inconvenienced. As a result, this study used a user perception survey to determine the extent of non-face-to-face services in the library and to suggest the direction of operation of non-face-to-face services in a pandemic condition. To that purpose, beginning February 12, 2020, an online survey of library customers in 37 public libraries was performed for about three weeks, and the 117 replies were examined using the SPSS statistics tool to perform frequency analysis, regression analysis, correlation analysis, and reliability analysis. By the survey and data survey results, it was recommended that library services be re-established in the direction of non-face-to-face library service operation, that library non-face-to-face services be expanded, that user education be conducted, that non-face-to-face services be promoted, and that user opinions be collected.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze an usage behavior for the public library website through web traffic. For this purpose, using Google Analytics and growth hacking technique, the data of A public library website log was analyzed for three months from August 1, 2021 to October 31, 2021. As a result of the study, the young age group of 18-24 years old and 25-34 years old recorded a high rate of new member registration, & it was found that the inflow rate through SNS was high for external inflows. As a result of analysis for the access rate by time, it was found that the time with the highest inflow rate was between 10 am and 11 am both on Wednesday and Friday. As a access channel, the access rate using mobile (64.90%) was quite high, but at the same time, the bounce rate (27.20%) was higher than the average (24.93%), & the rate of duration time (4 minutes 33 seconds) was lower than thee average (5 minutes 22 seconds). Finally, it was found that the utilization rate of reading program events and online book curation service, which the library focuses on producing and promoting, is very low. These research results can be used as basic data for future improvement of public library websites.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the establishment and administrative strategies for shared repositories for academic libraries in Korea, using the US ReCAP (Research Collections and Preservation Consortium) Project as a case study. The US ReCAP Project was a collaboration between the New York Public Library and the university libraries of Columbia University, Harvard University, and Princeton University. In-depth interviews were conducted with librarians and administrators in charge of the ReCAP Project to understand the original vision of the project, as well as how the strategy and approach evolved over the years. The analysis results revealed that shared repositories for libraries have evolved into shared collections enabling shared use. But shared repositories require a central management system to be successful in the long-term. Additionally, findings showed that the shared repository filled more quickly than anticipated. This in turn required collaborative planning on shared collection development and selection policies to determine which materials to send to the shared repository.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the information behavior of so-called “MZ Generation” users who are going to be the main information users of the continuously and radically changing scientific information environment due to the advent of various types of information media and rapid increment of digital information resources. Especially, the characteristics of MZ generation is investigated through questionnaire asking questions about their use of contents platforms, and online resources for everyday life information and scholarly information, and their way of producing, responding, and sharing information contents. The results show that they use YouTube most as the contents platform, prefer Naver as their everyday life information source, and use Google as the main scholarly information source. Their main purpose of using the content platform is to search for everyday life information rather than scholarly or professional information, and they are actively producing information, mostly to keep records of their everyday lives.
