Abstract

This study intended to look at the Library Living Lab to solve community problems. To this end, this study investigated cases outside of the country and investigated various aspects of Living Lab’s application to solving community problems. In addition, a survey was conducted on residents of Chungju to find areas where libraries can contribute to solving problems in the community and investigate the need. As a result, residents generally responded that “Library Living Lab,” in which libraries participate in living lab activities in various fields, is needed to solve problems in the community. It shows that the range of services and activities that the library can provide can be expanded to the community and can be an innovative measure for library services that can solve almost all problems in the community through the Library Living Lab.

Abstract

Using the data shown in the national library statistics system, we tried to identify the current situation from various angles and derive problems, and based on this, we tried to find a development plan. First, it is necessary to conduct a thorough survey to know the statistics of Special library. Second, some degree of unification of the names used in Special libraries should be achieved. Third, it is necessary to present the subject classification for Special libraries. Fourth, it is necessary to actively promote and incentive Special libraries to participate in statistical surveys. Fifth, it is necessary to solve the problem that Special libraries are classified into other statistics. Sixth, statistics of national and large Special libraries such as the Court Library, Constitutional Court Library, and Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information cannot be found anywhere. Unless these problems are solved, the overall evaluation of Special libraries and policy proposals at the national level will be meaningless.

Abstract

The school library provides a mobile web service that allows access to the library catalog system, and provides services that reflect the needs of search and consider the characteristics of mobile devices. Therefore, this study conducted a literature review, an analysis of the current status of school library mobile web services, and a survey of the mobile service user experience of students and teachers to find the contents and service plans for school library mobile app services that meet the school library mobile needs. Based on the survey, the contents and design plan of the school library DLS mobile service was prepared. First, the steps were reduced from step 4 to step 3. In the first step, solution of screen clipping errors in registering as a member and various login platforms for accessibility are needed. In the second step, integrated search and detailed search, provision of materials for use and reading education, post-booking activities, guides and announcements on the use of the affiliated school library, inter-loan, and e-books are provided as main menu. In the third step, it was proposed to provide related functions such as reservations as well as the display of the detailed screen of the search results of the collection. This study can be used not only to develop dedicated mobile app services, but also to change current web-based mobile services.

Abstract

As collaboration of research is increasing in social science, this study aims to investigate the changes in patterns of research collaboration in the field of library and information science, over the years from 2002 to 2020. The data used for this study were collected from four major journals in the field to analyze the frequency of co-authored research articles by journals and by institutions that all authors were associated with. Also, the institutions data were used to build a co-authorship network, which produced various indices including TBC (Triangle Betweenness Centrality) that showed which institutions were more central than others in the network. The result shows the number of co-authored articles were constantly increasing in all journals, and some institutions, mostly universities, showed the higher centrality scores than others and the range of collaboration were also expanded.
