The purpose of this study is to present the direction of development of menu structure of museum web site through menu structure and content analysis of domestic museum web sites. To this end, menu structure was divided into content areas for 27 national, public, and university museums in Korea and analyzed in terms of organizing system, labeling system, and navigation system, which are components of information architecture. The results of the study suggested continuous management, including hierarchy of appropriate width and depth, use of clear and consistent labels, provision of collection search functions and updating the status of collections, and correction of web site errors, in the direction of development.
This study was to suggest the considerations for application profiles of 2019 revised RDA using literature reviews and case studies according to new RDA that revised in order to reflect the LRM and linked data. First, the additional elements were recommended as the contents of application profiles such as inverse element, broader element, narrow element, domain, range, alternate label name, mapping to MARC, mapping to BIBFRAME, and RDA description examples as new elements as well as element name, element ID, element URL, description method, vocabulary encoding scheme, data provenance element, data provenance value, and notes as the elements that were already suggested by previous researches. Second, RDA rules' representations in forms of flow chart and application profiles through analyzing RDA rules were suggested in order to apply the rules to RDA application profiles to structure the rules in which every element has 4 types of description method, many conditions, and options. Third, the RDA mapping to BIBFRAME was suggested in RDA application profiles because RDA and BIBFRAME are co-related in context of content standard and encoding format, and mapping BIBFRAME and RDA is necessitated for programming BIBFRAME editors with RDA as content standard. This study will contribute to find the methods for constructing RDA application profiles and BIBFRAME application profiles with RDA as content standard.
In addition to emphasizing practicality, as in some academic disciplines, LIS is also interested in the research activities and journal publishing of librarians. Despite the high interest, there are few Korean studies on librarian authors' publishing. This study focuses on analyzing the status of librarians' publishing and finding ways to activate their journal publishing. This study analyzed the papers of the librarian authors published from 2014 to 2018 in Journal of the Korean Biblia Society for Library and Information Science and identified the characteristics of librarians who are publishing. As a result, librarians accounted for 15.56% of all authors. However, it is encouraging that the number of librarians' authorship stabilized, and that many librarians are the main authors. Librarians who were energetically publishing were public or school librarians, and academic librarians were slightly behind. There were graduate student librarians who collaborated with the advisor. In order to increase the librarian's publishing, it seemed to be necessary to improve not only the librarian's efforts but also the recognition and assistance of his/her library. Both the librarian and his/her library should be aware of the importance of publishing the journals, and should establish concrete plans such as resilience, compensation, and support. In this way, the librarian's valuable practical experience will be published in research papers and widely shared among researchers and practitioners.
This study explored the fact that libraries can be used as evacuation facilities, suggesting that existing libraries built not only strengthen their role and function as evacuation facilities but also need to be constructed or remodeled to meet the criteria for designation and operation of evacuation facilities. The use of closed schools was proposed to pursue economic efficiency and regional effects in building or remodeling, and the status of the evacuation facilities and closed school in Chungju was evaluated to check the effectiveness of these proposals, and closed school was assessed based on the capacity of the shelter. The three main points of discussion in this paper are as follows: ① Reconfirm what functions and roles the library are performing as an evacuation facility, and explore the advantages of using the library as an evacuation facility is used as an evacuation facility. ② Review and discuss the synergy by the role of the library and the closed schools. ③ Examine and discuss the synergy between these roles of the library and the closed school.
This study intends to classify the users by the MBTI personality type and investigate and analyze information resources and services of library preferred by personality type. Towards this end, we have surveyed the K University students on their personality types and preferred resources and services, and also attempted to explore the possibility of providing customized information services of university libraries according to the MBTI personality type based on the results. As a result of the study, it turned out that there was a significant difference in the preference of digital contents type in the analysis of the data type preference and the quadrant type through the analysis of attitude index type from validating the difference between data / information source and service preference according to the MBTI type. The analysis of 16 types of personality also demonstrated a significant difference in the perception of digital contents. Accordingly, In order to provide services for data and digital contents suitable for personality types in university libraries, it should be preceded by collecting MBTI personality type data for users in the library. After that, when a user requests a reference information service from a library, or requests a book or information, it is necessary to provide a form-specific service or provide a content-specific service.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a personalized reading instruction program with customized book selection for adolescents based on their personalities on their emotional intelligence and vocational maturity. The Enneagram personality test was utilized for selecting books based on the students' personalities and the effect of the reading instruction program was assessed using pre- and post-tests. The findings of the study revealed that the personalized reading instruction program was effective in improving emotional intelligence and vocational maturity for students with Ennneagram personality type 6. In addition, a qualitative analysis was conducted to investigate the participants' satisfaction level and their personal opinions. For future studies, independent research with a larger population and appropriate reading time based on each Enneagram personality type is suggested.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of perceived relational benefits of senior library users on the relationship quality and intent to relationship continuity. This study was conducted 50+ public library users through the survey, and 185 subjects were analyzed. The results showed that relational benefits mediated by relationship quality affect intent to relationship continuity. Particularly, functional benefit among the relational benefits had a great effect on intent to relationship continuity, mediated by relationship quality. Commitment among relational quality had a great effect on intent to relationship continuity. These findings suggest marketing policy implications to develop service policy for senior library users.
Due to the fact that cognitive authority influences an individual's thoughts so that a given information is perceived as appropriate, people evaluate information based on their cognitive authority. The purpose of the present study is to examine the perception of the cognitive authority of online information sources used by college students to carry out their academic tasks, and to determine whether such perceptions affect the quality assessment of information sources, such as webpages, e-journals, and Wikipedia,. Specifically, we measured how cognitive authority, which were formed by the author, the surface, and the content of an information source influenced its accuracy, usefulness, completeness, and expertise. For this purpose, online surveys were conducted with college students, and 172 valid responses were obtained. Findings indicated that all the characteristics that formed the cognitive authority of an information source had significant impacts on its accuracy, usefulness, completeness, and expertise. The study suggests academic implications that confirm the associations between cognitive authority and credibility of information in the context of online information sources. Furthermore, the study provides practical implications that system developers or operators of information sources need to consider diverse factors that affect their cognitive authority to promote users' trust on the information that they deliver.
Recently, domestic interest in gender equality is increasing, and it is expected that the demand for the collection of children's gender equality in the library will increase due to these social changes. In this study, the top 10 public libraries in Korea were selected from the list of collections of gender equality books and collection / loan data presented by various institutions such as public libraries and 'children's library research groups'. For this purpose, 10 libraries in Korea were selected and analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively through the collection status of the gender equality collections, loan status, turnover, Bonn's use Factor, and Trueswell's 80/20 rule. Based on the results of this analysis, we would like to suggest some issues to be reflected in library development policy of the future.
The study aimed to investigate the motivation and user satisfaction of medical school graduate students using specific academic information sites, and examines the effect of usage motivation factors on user satisfaction. This study was conducted from September 10, 2018 to September 21, 2018 by a large medical school graduate student in Seoul, and analyzed 135 valid responses. According to the analysis, the degree of reliability and interactivity of PubMed is higher than that of Google Scholar in medical school graduate students' use of academic information sites. It was found to have a significant effect on user satisfaction of academic information sites. In particular, convenience has the greatest influence on users' choice of academic information sites. The results of the study are of theoretical implications in that the discussion of academic information services through web sites is explained in terms of use and satisfaction in the context of medical information. On the other hand, specific research results provide practical implications for improving the services of medical-related academic search engines.
National Records Designation System is designed to protect valuable civilian records from loss or damage. It also intends that government administrates important civilian records to raise public concerns civilian records and to foster archival culture in Korea. This study investigates the current states of service fo the designated record through the web page of National Archive of Korea. Major findings are as follows. First, the information of designated records is dispersed in two web pages by the National Archive of Korea, an introductive web page of every collection in the National Archive of Korea and a web page of designated record service. Second, the web page of designated record service provides information of designated records only at collection level, so it is not easy for users to understand the contents of the records. In order to improve the service for the designated record service of the National Archive of Korea, this study proposed the unification of dispersed web pages to provide information of the designated records consistently. It also suggested a facet based directory service and word cloud service to give access to the contents of each designated record collection. The facet based directory and word cloud service will help users to understand the designated records in more detail.
According to the development of information technology, the paradigm of the archives is shifting from preservation management of past records to use-oriented services. In this regard, this study is conducted an empirical study on the effect of internal marketing factors of university archives on the customer orientation of employees in order to improve organizational satisfaction for users of records information service. Based on the previous research, the delegation of authority, internal communication, management support, and training are established as factors of internal marketing, and the parameters for this are job satisfaction, organizational commitment, customer orientation as dependent variables, and We set up hypothesis between research variables and attempted an analysis through statistical system. In summary, each element of internal marketing showed significant results on job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and management support was most closely related to job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and customer orientation of university archive staff.
In this study, we analyzed Circulation data of Law library in the S university for one year in 2018 and analyzed whether the Library holdings are actually used for education and research. First of all, this study analyzed user patterns by analyzing subjects, languages, and publication years for books that were circulated for one year from the ALMA system which is an S university library system. In addition, we analyzed how the current library holdings were used or cited in course syllabi and research papers written by members in S university. The results from this study can be used as an important basic data for effective collection development.
