The purpose of this study is to analyze media in the elementary moral textbooks with the information processing model and suggest some ways to boost media literacy within the school library. In this study, the three national moral curriculum for the 4th, 5th and 6th elementary students are assayed. As the results of analysis, the inputs of the elementary moral textbooks are bias toward pictures (visual media) and stories (printed media), its' processing focus on investigation and workbooks using the table and its' outputs are based on the writing, speaking and making (creating). But there are so lack of specific activities to achieve relevant information form the media and the reading strategies of visual media as the elements of inputs. The school library should serve various reading materials considering the develop of reading interest, make workbooks for learning strategies according to the text types and try to secure collaborative teaching time to resolve the bias toward media of inputs, increase information processing activities and improve students' media literacy.
This study was to suggest display of RDA resource type in OPAC efficiently. Literature reviews and users test and preference survey were used as research methods. The 4 ways for the display of RDA resource type were suggested. First, GMD and the resource type code(bcode2) invented by library itself as well as leader/06, 007, and 008 field should be used for converting AACR2 resource type to RDA resource type in the bibliographic records. Second, RDA resource type vocabularies applicable to Korean cataloging environment should be designed and described in 33X subfield <TEX>${\blacktriangledown}9$</TEX> and detailed resource terms described in 34X should be also expressed in OPAC. Third, two option is suggested as content type and carrier type display separately and as content type and carrier type combination. Fourth, 336, 338 filed, leader/07 bibliographic level, 008/30-31 Literary text for sound recordings, 34X field were useful to develop user centered resource type icon. This study would be able to increase the utilization of RDA resource types and help the users to understand the RDA resource type in OPAC.
Measurement of quality of life is a concept studied in the field of administration, economy and society. And It is a standard of measuring performance of government. Recently, in governments and global society, QoL (Quality of life) index is used to reflect overall development degree. National policy and service effectiveness measurement using QoL index is more persuasive when it is combined with 'Bottom-Up Spillover Theory'. This study applied "National Quality of Life Index", the object QoL index used by National Statistical Office to see if the library service is recognized to actually have influence on the quality of life, and furthermore, see the difference of quality of life improvement recognition by user and quality of life improvement degree recognized by the librarian. "Recognition regarding shortage of time" was the highest index, and "concentration of fine dust" was the lowest. Regarding the recognition difference between librarian and user, it showed signifiant difference in 13 index, while the recognition difference by gender showed difference in 5 index, difference by age was 23, difference by residence was 14, and difference by number of visits to library was 9.
The purpose of this study is to present the need of developing reading education programs for preventing school violence that reading education program has on teenagers' attitude, awareness and empathy of school violence. According to the analysis results is as follows. First, Reading education program influenced on the attitude of the school violence. They had a meaningful effect about the sub-factor of the school violence permissive, attitude for the victim and attacker. Second, Reading education program had an influence on empathy ability. They had a meaningful effect about the sub-factor of the empathy ability take view point, empathic concern, individual anguish and imaging.
This research investigated user satisfaction and importance of OPAC2.0 services in university libraries for book search result. This research analyzed OPAC2.0 services in university libraries focusing on book search result, user satisfaction with and importance in services, difference in satisfaction and importance, and grade and satisfaction. As a result of the investigation and analysis, OPAC2.0 services given the most was the service of 'portal site linkage'. Generally, the satisfaction with OPAC2.0 services was 2.07 in average, 'very dissatisfactory'. The service considered to be the most important was 'service item'. The difference between satisfaction and importance showed dissatisfactory result, compared with importance in general. The grade and the general difference in satisfaction didn't appear. On the basis of the analysis result mentioned above, with the purpose of the improvement in OPAC2.0 services focusing on book search result, it is necessary to manage users continuously by publicizing libraries concerning respective services, introducing use guide, offering a variety of services, improving quality, and offering information.
The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of reading education of the specialized high schools for an alternative education. Among the specialized high schools for an alternative education, five schools were selected for the study. To achieve the study purpose, interviews were conducted with the teachers in charge of reading education of the schools. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. According to the study results, there have been attempts to integrate curriculum and reading education based on humanities. Students were actively participating in planning and conducting reading programs. Furthermore, there were Library Assisted Instructions. In order to proceed successfully with the reading education, there were several important factors as follows: 1)there was an organized system to support reading education by teachers, schools, and school libraries. 2)students' interests and needs were reflected in designing reading programs, 3)reading programs were adjusted according to students' needs and interests, and 4)reading activities were emphasized.
This study aims to examine the effect of students' library after-school activities on the students and the school library from a marketing perspective and to recommend marketing strategies for school libraries. For the purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted at nine middle schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and a series of statistical analyses with the survey data was performed in order for hypothesis testing. The results suggest that the effects of the school library marketing including customer loyalty were influenced by the student assistants' activities such as internal and experiential marketing factors. Furthermore, the activities of student library assistants can be linked to word-of-mouth marketing. Based on the results, ways to use student assistants in school library marketing are suggested.
This study examined the relationship between the professionalism of children's librarians and the program operation in children's services. Based on the literature review, the librarians' expertise was divided into 6 areas, and the program operation was divided into planning and proceeding, and an e-mail questionnaire survey was conducted on 262 public librarians (response rate 58%). As a result of the survey, the children's program planning was correlated with all areas of professionalism of children librarians, and the program progress was related to the competence of the three areas including professional development. These results can be used as a basis for strengthening the professionalism of children's librarians and preparing ways to activate children's programs.
This paper employs entitymetrics analysis on the research works of Dong-ju Yun. He was a Korean poet who was studied by many researchers on his works, religion and life. We collected 1,076 papers about Dong-ju Yun and conducted various approaches including co-author citation analysis, topic modeling analysis to identify the topic trend in the study of Dong-ju Yun. Also we extracted entities like person's name and literature's title from abstract to examine the relationship among them. The result of this paper enables us to objectively identify the topic trend and infer implicit relationships between key concept associated with Dong-ju Yun based on text data. Moreover, we observed sub-research topics such as life, poem, aesthetic existence, comparative literature, literary translation, and religious beliefs. This paper shows how entitymetrics can be utilized to study intellectual structures in the humanities.
Previous studies have noted mothers' roles as active health information seekers, health managers, and caregivers for their family members. However, little is known about health information needs and seeking behaviors among Korean mothers of young children living in the United States. Using paper-based surveys, this study found that vaccination, child dental health, parenting, nutrition and diets, and physical exercise were ranked as the five most important health topics by the Korean mothers of young children aged 0 to 10 years old in this sample. Furthermore, this study revealed that mothers of boys evaluated the importance of two topics significantly higher than those of girls: circumcision (t=3.16, p < .01) and breastfeeding (t=2.47, p < .05). Also, age of child was an important factor influencing mothers' information needs in three health topics: child dental health (F=5.292, p < .01), physical exercise (F=7.107, p < .01), and child skin care (F=5.640, p < .01). Implications for developing health information services are also discussed.
Researches on librarians' job satisfaction in Korea have been conducted for nearly 40 years. However, it is difficult to find the criteria that specifically evaluate librarians' job satisfaction, and most of the studies have used evaluation criteria developed oversees a long time ago. For these reasons, it is necessary to investigate how librarians' job satisfaction levels have been measured. A total of 68 theses and dissertations were reviewed by dividing period into 10 years backwards from 2016. The chronological changes and trends of evaluation factors were examined and differences were sought among types of libraries. As a result, it was confirmed that there were various changes in the evaluation factors. A standard indicator consisting of 12 evaluation factors and 39 items was proposed by applying three principles that the criteria should reflect factors, questions, and current status.
In the knowledge society, alternative leadership induces voluntary participation by motivating the members through horizontal, emotional approach and responsibility. There is little theoretical discussion about theoretical research on alternative leadership and its applicability in university libraries. In this study, we will discuss the theoretical review of alternative leadership, the change of knowledge management paradigm in university library, the role of manager and librarian, and alternative leadership application. Through this, I would like to suggest the development direction for strengthening the leadership of the librarians who will lead the university library.
This study aims to propose the exhibition contents by utilizing the technique for 3D VR using the presidential archives that are provided on the web-site. Especially, this study proposed requirements and a method to develop exhibition contents based on 3D VR technique. To accomplish it, this study analyzed literature review and cases of the online exhibition in presidential archives and then classified contents to find out how to apply 3D VR for exhibition contents effectively. With the results of the analysis, this study selected the type of records and proposed the effective 3D VR model as displaying contents. Then, this study developed an implementation case.
This study investigated how college students seek and use information sources at the time of their decision making (especially during elections on this study). More than 360 students in 12 colleges located in Seoul were randomly selected and participated in this study. The survey asked them what kind of information sources they use at the time of their decision making as well as when they use information as usual. Several criteria for information evaluation were adopted to analyze information attributes and information seeking behavior of the population. Compare to the previous studies, Internet resources are more used than ever, information credibility and authority affected more to the population's political decision making. Additional examinations were executed to see deeper story of their information seeking at the end.
