Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the effect and limitation of teacher librarians' self-reported appraisals and suggest it's activation plans about school library based instruction (SLBI). According to results of analyses, the SLBI begin with subject teachers' demand for learning materials and teacher librarians play their educational role in Information search & access and representation & synthesis of information during the instruction. Compared with previous studies, the limitations of SLBI we can see in this study are restricted role of teacher librarians, exclusive attitude and antipathy to classroom opening of subject teachers under the SLBI. The bars of promoting the SLBI are also the difficulty of collaborative working with several same subject teachers and subject classroom system. The ways of activating the SLBI suggested in their self-reported appraisals are building intimacy with subject teachers and participating actively curriculum council, peer-supervision and demonstration classes.

Abstract

Archives and Records Management Studies is being developed its own independent domains. However, the existing library classification scheme such as the KDC don't properly reflect the characteristics of Archives and Records Management Studies. This classification scheme has the irrational part of the arrangement of the subject items and should be required to rearrange subdivision of the subject areas. In this study, According to the characteristics of Archives and Records Management Studies, It is set up 8 subject areas, Records Management (General), the law and polices of records management, the collection and appraisal of the records, the documentary organization, recording information services, preservation of the records, archives management, archives and records center, etc. After analyzing the major contemporary library classification system such as KDC, DDC, NDC, UDC, LCC, then It is suggested that improvement measures through analyzing classification status and keywords of the Archives and Records Management data contained in Korean National Bibliography. In Archives and records management studies, The contents of the eight subject areas related to the field are changed to allow integration with KDC 028.

Abstract

This study analyzes on the perception of public librarians about lifelong education tasks in public library using Mann Whitney U-test, Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient, Multiple regression analysis. At the same time, analysis about re-education needs using Analytic Hierarchy Process is conducted. As result, at first, 87% of respondents feel moderate or difficult about lifelong education tasks, especially on planning task. At second, librarians who have qualification about lifelong educator feel easier (P=0.04) than others, in detail, task about lecturer liaison (P=0.04) and planning (P=0.05). Adding that, the career experience and the job difficulty of librarians has negative relationship (R=-0.217). Especially scheduling (R=-0.33) and progressing (R=-0.22) tasks show statistically meaningful. At third, as the result of Multiple regression analysis, tasks about planning (P=0.04) and library marketing (P=0.05) are selected as meaningful elements which effect overall difficulty of life long education job. As final, 91% of librarian need retraining for life long education function, as result of spearman (R=-0.210), the more librarians feels difficult about life long education jobs, the more they need retraining. Anyway, as the result of priority of retraining subjects through AHP technique, user communication (CU P=0.310), planning (PL P=0.246), library marketing (LM P=0.173) are in weight order. CR ratio shows 0.146 with permissible degree.

Abstract

The sharing economy has been evaluated as a sustainable system dominating the next 10 years and one of the 10 ideas which can change the world. The purpose of this study is to reveal whether there is any relevance between the sharing economy and libraries, if the library can be the core model of the sharing economy, and to propose how libraries could contribute to a sharing economy. To this end, literature related to the sharing economy and the actual cases of its implementation were analyzed. The results are as follows: First, the library was evaluated as a successful model of the sharing economy because it has shared information and tools for centuries. Therefore, it was concluded that the library could be an institution that can lead to a sharing economy. Second, it was analyzed that the library could foster the sharing economy through offering its space, and functioning as the infinite imagination room and smart work center, sharing goods through Little Free Libraries, as well as various other resources of library, and sharing various types of knowledge including reference services. Third, it can be said that the possibility of realizing a shared economy in libraries is inexhaustible, and librarians can play an active role and will positively influence the success or failure in terms of realizing the sharing economy. In the future, there needs to be a study to measure the practices and the performance of the sharing economy of libraries.

Abstract

The government introduced a free semester in 2013, current targets middle school education as a core policy for nurturing creative talent, the year 2016 has been carried out in front of all middle school. This purpose of this study was to develop and spread the library-based reading culture program model for free semester. In this study, for which students, teachers, parents, conducted a survey of the reading culture program requirements librarian. A library-based reading program of free cultural self-semester course four areas according to the configuration (career exploration activities, group activities, arts and sports activities, theme activities select) was developed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine in depth the personal experience of Instructor during National Competence Standards (NCS) Curriculum at Department of Library and Information Science. We conducted in depth interview (FGI) with participants who had recently experienced and data analysis was undertaken. We hope this study that an application of NCS would be activated fully in Library, educational institutes and qualifying examination institutes and that diverse feedbacks from related parties would makes leading to a better updated version of NCS development. As a result, First, The instructor had generally familiar with the background and purpose of the NCS. and they issued the inadequacies of job elements, non-reflection of the opinion on field education, the problems of classification of NCS. second, In the experience of NCS curriculum operating, There were the paperwork burden, Problems of methods of evaluation, evaluation period discrimination, the need to well communication with students. Third, In the problems on the NCS Curriculum operating, we found that there were The need on the proper Class size/hour, additional education, re-evaluation, Support system for NCS Curriculum operation, tools for practice, discrimination between relative evaluation and NCS evaluation, Enhancement for Competence/Standards. Fourth, On The ways of improving for NCS curriculum, We found that There were Class size, Support tools for practice, The improvement Competence/elements/standards based on LIS characteristic. The result of this study may contribute for improving the overall environment Based upon FGI analysis, several new directions for NCS education in the filed LIS curriculum are suggested.

Abstract

This study investigated the contents of twitters of metropolitans by year and city using language network analysis. The possibility of twitter as a medium of information provision was also explored. This study employed KrKwic, Ucinet6, and Netdraw programs to conduct language network analysis. As the results, the network was mainly formed with information about civic administration (citizen, management, opening service, participation) and information about citizens living (cultural events, parks, way to work) in 2014. However, information about civic service and announcement (citizen, civic opinion, opening service, civic service, events) occupied a central role in the network of 2015. The results showed that different keywords were derived by year and city in network analysis by city.

Abstract

As information and communication technologies have been developed, digital records are getting more important. Discussions on managements and archival value of digital records such as e-mail and data set have been undertaken. Furthermore, frequency of digital communication tools usage has been increasing in agencies and has gained recognition as official records. Accordingly, this study aims to deal with importance of instant messenger records and proposes effective management model of instant messenger records. We performed comparative analysis of management records which are related to instant messenger in national archives of United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Korea and interviewed workers in agencies. Using this results, we propose effective and meaningful model for managing instant messenger records for workers in agencies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve awareness of cultural diversity and respect different culture, value and lifestyle by providing children from multi cultural family and children from non multi cultural family who are from third to sixth year in elementary school with education on cultural diversity. This study developed cultural diversity education program in public library and applied it to analyze a difference in awareness of cultural diversity education program, a difference in awareness of cultural diversity education program between experimental group and comparative group, library service, use of library service and influence of expansion of service. As a results, it was found that cultural diversity education program helped children understand, accept, consider and respect cultural diversity better.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of reading education program for high school on students' self-esteem and reading attitude and satisfaction of students through the whole reading education process. The program that consists of 10 classes was developed and reading education was conducted. Through analysis of pre-post variance in self-esteem and reading attitude, effects of reading education has been proved. Also, satisfaction as evaluation about the whole reading education process was surveyed. As a result, it was found that reading education that uses program based on board game affects high school students' self-esteem and reading attitude, enhances reading attitude and promotes reading motivation.

Abstract

It's been taken a profound interest in the user eduction of the children's libraries, as they have taken the conveniences, resources, children's librarians after 2000. The purpose of this study is to consider whether the children's library can use the story-telling in library use education, to develop the instructional model based on the story-telling method for children, users in children's libraries. After all, it's reviewed to understand the concept and principle of story-telling method, to consider whether the method can be adopted to the user education in children's libraries, and to propose the instructional model based on the story-telling. The result of this study will give the good examples for the user education, especially the planning of user education in children's libraries and public libraries in Korea.

Abstract

This research is part of the Korean-ASEAN Official Development Assistance (ODA) project, specifically exploring the possibility of using public libraries as a place for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) literacy training for women from ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries. Women from ASEAN countries are often minorities in ICT capacity building. A survey of 1,000 female public library users - 100 people from each of the ten ASEAN countries - and in-depth interviews with librarians from national libraries were conducted. The survey results showed that 68.8% of respondents perceived public libraries as a suitable place for ICT literacy training. 27.5% of respondents visited libraries for ICT-related activities, including information retrieval, e-mail, SNS, etc., Meanwhile, findings from the interviews highlighted the importance of having up-to-date ICT infrastructure - computers, Internet, professional ICT skill training for librarians, strategic planning for policies, budgets, and cooperation with other related institutions - in public libraries in order to provide effective ICT training.

Abstract

This study was conducted to review the reading education and the required reading list for elementary school students which is being executed as part of China's language education. For this purpose, extracurricular reading list of language curriculum standard enacted in 2011 was investigated and required list for elementary school students recommend by China's Ministry of Education education in 2012 and 2015. Furthermore, the comparative analysis of extra curricular reading list and two types of required reading list recommended by the Ministry of Education. As a result of investigation on two types of lists of required reading, it was found out that there are lots of fairy tales and science book types by genre, lots of British book by nation, and as a result of comparison with extra curricular reading list, it was found out that there is higher rate of reflection of oversease books and Chinse authorsd, and that there were higher rate of reflection of contemporary literary works and science. Based on these findings, studies on Chinese authors, Chinese fairy tales, and contemporary literary works and studies and recommendations on various subjects were suggested.

Abstract

In this study, in order to clarify the unsystematic compilation and publication of books at the Hakbu in the period of Empire of Korea, I aimed to investigate the distinctive features and contents by comparing the record in old literature and with the existing original, and then by analyzing them in the form of bibliography. The summarized findings from this study are as follow; (1) The number of the books compiled/published was 63 types according to the findings until now. (2) It showed that the printing/compiling book in the Hakbu was differently carried out annually. (3) An 84.1% of the published books were printed by using printed edition, and Sinyeon printed edition was classified into 35 types of books, accounted for the most percentage among the printed books. (4) Most of books were bound in type of Thin-cover book using Hanji (Korean paper hand-made from mulberry trees). (5) The price of books was more expensive than that of contemporary books. As time goes by, the price of a book published becomes cheaper. (6) There were 6 types of translated books in the books compiled. As comprehensive study about compiled/published books at the Hakbu, this research will form the base of related research.
