Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of the creative writing program that is one of the practical strategy of information literacy on self-directed learning abilities of elementary school students. According to the results, this program raise the average score of 33.69 points from 130.14 to 163.83 significantly in their self-directed learning abilities. Among the specific abilities of them, this program affects learning planning and evaluation capability meaningfully. But the long term continuous of learning executive is not changed significantly by this program. As the results of after interview with the students who take part in this program, the most of them respond that they could reduce their fear of writing and apply the reading and writing strategies to other subjects. So, if we teach this program with subjects consistently and use the learning strategies of information literacy, we could improve the long term continuous of learning executive.

Abstract

The specialized textbook library provides resources for textbook publishers and textbook development professionals as well as others in related fields who are committed to the educational development of our country. The textbook library also supports research and education among the faculty and students. But, when examining the reality of the textbook specialized library, analysis concludes that it faces various problems such as state-supported operating budget shortfalls, weakness of public infrastructure, difficulty in collection of textbook-related data, and lack of inter-linked library systems. Thus, this study determined the development direction of the textbook specialized library through the process of literature analysis, case studies, and reflection of expert opinions. In this study, a long-term policy direction of the building and operating of textbook specialized libraries has been proposed as follows: organizing and operating a textbook specialized library, collecting and creating a list of textbook-related information resources, creating information strategy, and constructing specialized content for the textbook specialized library.

Abstract

As archivists are professional who is responsible for professional works related in archives, they are required to perform expanded roles including traditional roles in changed environment surrounding archives. To solve those requirements, reeducation program can be essential for improving archivists expertise. However, as compared with education quality and programs for professional improvement required to archivists, reeducation program currently offered in National Archives of Korea is inadequate to deal with performing the extended roles required to archivists. This study analyzed the current situation and problem of reeducation program currently offered in National Archives of Korea, as compared to domestic and foreign reeducation programs, and surveyed archivists' opinion about requirements to perform their extended roles in practice. Based on the results, this study improved a reeducation program in National Archives in Korea.

Abstract

This study aims to propose management plans for 'Archive Village' that are operating in order to protect important private records and archives. Since 2008, Archive Villages from National Archives of Korea have had nearly 3,000 more records by 2014. However, many users have had difficulties to know the status of the recorded material, even less access to record's informations. This problem arising is that it is difficult to manage and use records. The purpose of this study is to propose a plan for the management of records, which is to realize the 'Computerization of records' official opinion, one of which was raised in the previous study. Because the project is facing the issue of 'human resources and costs', 'the burden of system construction'. This study is implemented records management system considering the problems noted above, utilizing AtoM (Access to Memory).

Abstract

This study aims to develop the education program of the presidential archives based on the NIE for social studies. Especially, this study provided an opportunity to develop information processing capacity through newspapers reflecting rapidly changing social environment for users of presidential archives. With the process, it provides an opportunity for users to develop information literacy, which has become a necessity in information society. Through the education program students may have various experiences, wider perspective and diversity with self-directed learning. To perform the goal, this study proposed an education program using presidential archives based on NIE and an applied case.

Abstract

This research reviews literature regarding information use behavior published during the period of 1970 to 2014 in Korea. It aims to identify the researchers' information use behavior in specialized fields and contributes to provide the effective information services based on users' needs. In order to do that, it reviews research papers that are associated with information use behavior by primarily examining the subjects, methods, variables, results, and suggestions of collected literature. It reveals some differences among researchers according to their fields, career, and status while researchers in various fields make appearance the change of information use up to digital environments. It is suggested that information services based on the users' characteristics should be provided.

Abstract

This study, by case investigation of book review, one of user-participation services in university library, and questionnaire investigation on librarians, aims at suggesting current statuses, problems, and improvement. This study investigated the services performed at 35 4-year universities establishing the department of library and information science. This study, except 7 ones which doesn't offer the service, investigated the service offered by 28 universities, classifying with 3 contents. As a result, the publicity and method in university library including event had an influence on use. This study was performed to increase participation rate and to promote reading activity. This study judged that book review is indispensible to university libraries. Libraries presented the opinions that, for the purpose of promoting active book review, libraries have to perform positive publicity, attractive event, support in the level of schools, librarians' wills, expansion of discussion cultures, offer of unified book review among universities, and linkage method with other organization reading program.

Abstract

The purpose of this study proposes continuing education program development for disability services librarian training. To this end, there was researched and analysed the Curriculum for the librarian disability service training courses and the library services with disability and LIS curriculums in abroad and domestic. Based on the research results obtained by the more comprehensive study developed a model for continuing education programs to strengthen disability services librarian competencies. Models were divided program is being offered to Track 1, 2. There are Education types which are organized cyber-shaped form of education training, set-type training, and was organized in blended learning.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate and compare the situation of the informationization of public libraries between 2012 and 2014. Data were collected two times in both 2012 and 2014 using Internet survey. Survey contents were general information situation, softwares, digital service room, RFID, digital contents, mobile service, integrated digital services. Results show that library informationization went for demonstration effect for local residents, staff for library informationization was insufficient, KOLAS was still needed to be upgraded, and most of public libraries were insufficient for future digital services. As improvement plans, there are the development of next generation integrated system, expansion of mobile web and app service, and increasing digital contents. For further study, it provides a study of the use of digital contents and equipment on public libraries.

Abstract

For bibliotherapy, users should understand their own life situation, select and access the book (self-help book). User access to book through situation catalog (or list) in reading list, but user is difficult to define and simplify in one word after understanding their own situation. Catalog of bibliotherapy reading list classifies books using one situation category or maximum of two categories other than the age-specific classification. In this study, the author approached and analyzes based on the result of the research on the relationship between bibliotherapy and reading list, in order that access more efficiently to book what user wants. Bibliotherapy reading-list by using mapping and crosswalk between categories, and analyzes category of reading lists through comprehensive review.

Abstract

Since 2008, the Presidential Committee on Library and Information has conducted 'National Library Management Evaluation,' and almost all of the public libraries have participated in the evaluation. In order to find the effect of the Evaluation on the public libraries, this study analyzed four years of the performance scores (2010~2013) during the period of the <TEX>$1^{st}$</TEX> National Library Development Plan 2009~2013, which used the same measurement, were analyzed by the size groups and regions. The results indicated positive effect on the quality of the internal process such as planning and collection building. Yet attainment gab remains between metropolitan and the other regions, and also different relationship exists between input and attainment among the public library size groups. It suggested the policy development considering the library size and the regional difference.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is discussing the applicability of a logic model as a mean measuring library outcomes. For a case study, this paper suggested a full framework for Reading Academy, a reading program for children and adolescents. Among the outcomes composing of the framework, medium-term outcomes were analyzed by manipulating the data the library have in its database. The findings say what the output evaluation could not show. In terms of book circulation, this program positively influenced to 52 percent of participants. Additionally, some participants joined reading book clubs after the program and some were likely to read books in various topics. This program, however, didn't make a positive impact on its re-attendance and other cultural programs' attendance. These findings indicate that the logic model contributes in the field of library outcomes and values.
