초록

지체장애인의 공공도서관 정보이용 증진, 공공도서관에서 실시하는 교육 및 문화 프로그램 참여에 대한 연구와 정책은 거의 이루어지지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지체장애인 및 부모 20인을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하여 지체장애인의 공공도서관 교육 및 문화 프로그램에 관한 욕구를 조사하고, 지체장애인이 실제적으로 정보를 이용하고 실효성 있는 교육 및 문화 프로그램에 참여할 수 있게 하는 핵심요인에 대하여 분석하여 도서관 이용을 활성화시키는 지원방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 개별면담과 포커스그룹 면담을 통해 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 3개의 주제(theme)와 13개의 하위주제가 도출되었다.: (1) 도서관에 대한 인식; 독서 및 교육 활동, 문화 프로그램, 도서관에 대한 이해, (2) 도서관 이용의 어려움; 환경적 접근의 어려움, 서비스 및 프로그램 부족, 심리적 어려움, 보조기기 부족, 정보 및 홍보 부족, 지원인력 부족, (3) 도서관 이용 활성화를 위한 지원방안; 기초서비스 측면, 독서교육 및 문화프로그램 측면, 인식개선 측면, 정책 지원 측면. 본 연구는 지체장애인을 위한 교육 및 문화 프로그램의 실제적인 지원방안을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to provide practical support methods of the library education and cultural programs for people with physical disabilities through the qualitative investigation. To collect data, focus group and individual interviews were conducted. Fourteen people with physical disabilities and six parents were interviewed. From the qualitative analysis, three themes and thirteen subthemes were emerged: (1) cognition about library, (2) difficulties of using the library, (3) support methods for activating library use. Finally, discussions, implications and future directions of library education and cultural programs for people with physical disabilities were presented based on the results of the study. We expect that this research can serve as a basis for further effort to develop library education and cultural programs suited for the unique needs of people with physical disabilities.
